Recently, Landon had another trip to the hospital. It was for a very different reason than asthma. He was very happy and very healthy when all of the sudden in the afternoon he got in our recliner with Elle and started snuggling with her. Over the course of about 30 minutes I noticed his eyes were getting heavy and he was looking swollen. So, I went over and put my hand on his head and he was burning up. So I ran upstairs and grabbed the thermometer and his fever was 103.2. I called the nurse at his Doctors office and told them he has a high fever, but has shown no other symptoms (no coughing, runny nose, ear ache, etc.). The nurse said to just give him fluids and keep him quiet. Well, he ended up falling asleep around 7pm and woke up around 9pm screaming of pain in his left leg (where he 2 weeks prior received a flu shot). Paul and I were super alarmed and in pretty much a panic, so I called the children's hospital nurse hotline and they said that we needed to bring him in immediately. So, we did and were told that he most likely had a severe bone infection in this thigh and that he would most likely need surgery to remove the infected area. They also told us that his blood levels were really wacky and not normal, and that we would be spending at least a week in the hospital. After a miserable long night of tests, MRI's, x-rays, blood tests, etc. Landon and I were exhausted. They never once gave him any antibiotics because they did not know exactly where the infection was. We were finally able to fall asleep together in the hospital bed and when the morning came Landon appeared to be feeling much better. The Doctor came in around 10am and was shocked by his improved health. After putting him through a few more tests, they concluded that a miracle occurred and he was perfect...nothing wrong with him at all. So, with all this being said we want to thank God and everyone who was praying for him during this scary time. Talk about crazy unexpected times in life! Our happy little man is back to running around like a wild animal and loving every second of life. We are so very blessed.
These pics are the course of the 24 hours we experienced together.
When he started to get sick...poor guy, looks so tired and swollen. Meanwhile, Elle loved snuggling up close with her big brother.
In the hospital waiting for the MRI. This was an especially scary time for me...they put children to sleep when they give them MRI's. And I will tell you, holding your child when they inject the medicine into his IV and having him fall limp in your arms is one tough feeling. I felt completely out of control and had to trust in the Doctors that they knew what they were doing and walk out of that room. Let's just say I was praying really hard. But, since we know the end of this little story, God gave us a pretty awesome miracle!Once he woke up from his MRI, he was starting to turn around. Had a bit more energy than he did when we arrived to the hospital.
All of the nurses really loved Landon and kept bringing him stickers for his collection on his shirt.
Happy my little man was starting to act a bit more normal and getting ready to go to bed.
He asked me to take a picture of his stickers. :)
Sweet little man.
The next afternoon we were on our way home! He got escorted out of the hospital in a bright red wagon!
And Daddy decided to put on a good show for Landon...underwear man!
Elle joined in on the fun! :)
So thankful for our 2 beautiful babes and their health.
