First Visit to the Dentist

We had our first visit to the dentist!  It was quite an adventure because Landon had somewhere picked up the idea that the dentist was a terrible and scary monster and that he would poke him with all of his tools.  Not sure where that came from, but all I can say is when we were leaving he says "Mommy, I really like the dentist and I want to go back so I can visit the treasure chest again."  That's all I needed to hear!

They really enjoyed the little tooth desk and toys they had in the lobby.
The dentist used the classic blow up a glove trick to try to get Landon to sit in the chair.  It didn't work.    After several attempts, bribing, and anything else we could think of to get him in the chair I ended up sitting with him, and they concluded that his teeth were growing in nicely and that he was doing a good job of brushing twice a day!  The blown up glove later was used to play volleyball in our living room.
Landon was pretty nervous.
He didn't want to go anywhere near that dental chair.
But, he finally got in when Mommy sat with him!!  He did a great job!
 Hiding from the dentist.  :)
Doing a little better in the chair.
How cool is this dentist office!!  The kids can watch movies and look at these amazing painted murals of Disney characters!
Ok, all done!  You did great buddy!!
 Elle's turn!
This little social butterfly hopped right up there on that chair and let the dentist do his work.  Her teeth are almost all in and she also got a great report!  Her new favorite thing to do is brush her teeth!
The treasure chest was the best part!
He was all smiles after visiting the treasure chest.  He picked out a toy lizard.
And this little peanut made some new friends with the dental staff after picking out a pretty toy necklace.
Landon asked if he could go back to the dentist the next day.
We will wait another 6 months to come back, but in the meantime we will be talking 'up' the dentist so that he doesn't relate him to a big scary monster.
On the way out of the building he thought this was a fun road to play 'don't step on a crack'!  Again, another new game he has learned that we played when we were kids, but we don't know where he picked this one up.  He's learning quite a bit at school these days we think.  :)
 Good dental report= Success!
