12/12/12

Today is a very unique day!  It is December 12, 2012...this won't happen again for about another thousand years.  Crazy!  So, I just HAD to create a blog post so that the date can come up reading 12/12/12.  :)  We have been having a lot of fun together as a family getting ready for the holidays!  Enjoy the modge-podge of pictures below!

Landon and Elle wear their Mickey and Minnie Santa hats every chance they get.  They are just the cutest...love them so much!
Their new favorite thing to do is 'Missile Command'.  My brother and I used to do this when we were younger in our PJ's with footies and our Dad would say "Missile Command in 3-2-1!" and we would slide down.  :)  Fun to hear Landon and Elle doing that now.
They are the best of friends.
I love this picture because Landon was so sweet in asking to hang the first ornament on the tree.  Look how big he is!

And look how big our sweet baby girl is getting!  She's really on those tippy-toes!  :)
These next photos are so sweet...a bit blurry, but Elle and I were having so much fun together one morning and I snapped as many pics as I could on the iPad.
 Sweet girl.
 Dancing!
 So big!
 I see your belly!
 She's so stinkin' cute.
Pointing at herself in the camera.  :)

I love her so much.
Time to eat an apple...one of her favorite fruits.
Landon, Elle and our neighbors kids were outside drawing in the driveway with some chalk and Elle decided to take the pink chalk and put 'lipstick' on.  :)  My little girly-girl.
I think Elle stole his chalk in this picture haha.  Poor guy.
Landon found an old Halloween costume of his and has been wearing the head piece around a lot lately.  And one night driving home he had it on and fell asleep in the car with it covering his face...too funny.
Our pretty Christmas tree with burlap garland!  First tree in our new phase of life in Atlanta, GA!
Garland and lights on our fireplace.
Our Charlie Brown lights outside. :)
Landon organized all of his toys on our coffee table.  He is so sweet and brings them up at night (most of them at least) because he knows we are trying to keep toys in his room vs all over the house.
Landon put Elle's old Christmas tutu around Beyah's neck...can't believe that little tutu fit baby girl just last year!
Landon and I spelled his name with Cheez-Its.  He's such a beautiful boy.
He is learning so much at school and can write his name!
Army-Navy game day!  We all had our blue and gold on!  Wish we could have gotten a pic of all 4 of us..
We are really loving our new Church!  This is their real Christmas tree in the lobby!  It's so beautiful and huge!
Unfortunately, our entire house has had the 'bug' going around and a few days ago both Landon and Elle had a cough, so I took them to get a milkshake to cool down their throats.  Nothing better than a nice cold drink going down the ol' hatch on a crummy feeling kinda day.
Now, every day since Landon has asked for a milkshake every time we get in the car haha.  ;)

First Visit to the Dentist

We had our first visit to the dentist!  It was quite an adventure because Landon had somewhere picked up the idea that the dentist was a terrible and scary monster and that he would poke him with all of his tools.  Not sure where that came from, but all I can say is when we were leaving he says "Mommy, I really like the dentist and I want to go back so I can visit the treasure chest again."  That's all I needed to hear!

They really enjoyed the little tooth desk and toys they had in the lobby.
The dentist used the classic blow up a glove trick to try to get Landon to sit in the chair.  It didn't work.    After several attempts, bribing, and anything else we could think of to get him in the chair I ended up sitting with him, and they concluded that his teeth were growing in nicely and that he was doing a good job of brushing twice a day!  The blown up glove later was used to play volleyball in our living room.
Landon was pretty nervous.
He didn't want to go anywhere near that dental chair.
But, he finally got in when Mommy sat with him!!  He did a great job!
 Hiding from the dentist.  :)
Doing a little better in the chair.
How cool is this dentist office!!  The kids can watch movies and look at these amazing painted murals of Disney characters!
Ok, all done!  You did great buddy!!
 Elle's turn!
This little social butterfly hopped right up there on that chair and let the dentist do his work.  Her teeth are almost all in and she also got a great report!  Her new favorite thing to do is brush her teeth!
The treasure chest was the best part!
He was all smiles after visiting the treasure chest.  He picked out a toy lizard.
And this little peanut made some new friends with the dental staff after picking out a pretty toy necklace.
Landon asked if he could go back to the dentist the next day.
We will wait another 6 months to come back, but in the meantime we will be talking 'up' the dentist so that he doesn't relate him to a big scary monster.
On the way out of the building he thought this was a fun road to play 'don't step on a crack'!  Again, another new game he has learned that we played when we were kids, but we don't know where he picked this one up.  He's learning quite a bit at school these days we think.  :)
 Good dental report= Success!

MiniVan Momma

We have officially made the transition to a Minivan.  In my life I have gone from a sweet Jeep Wrangler,  to a Honda Accord, to a Dodge Durango, to a Nissan Altima, Nissan Rogue and now a Nissan Quest.  All of these cars have special memories and have served me well, but our family has outgrown the smaller car or SUV and we've 'upgraded' to a minivan.  I was very hesitant to the thought of it and have always said I would never be a minivan Momma, but now that I am I wouldn't want it any other way!  The easy push of a button to open the doors or back door is just so nice.  Who would of thought that a sun roof and a moon roof would be so fun!  The space inside is the absolute best part and we are ridin' in style!

We arrived to the dealership at 2pm and didn't get home until 11pm.  The kids were great.  This is them saying goodbye to our old car.
Landon was excited to say goodbye and hello to a new car.

At the dealership, the kiddos insisted on wearing their Christmas hats.  They had fun together while we strolled the inside of the dealership about a million times during the paperwork part of the transaction.
 Goofy babes.
They were troopers that day.  It was a long day for all of us!
He couldn't be any more handsome.
And this sweet babe couldn't be any more beautiful.  Love them so much.
And here she is...our new ride.
We liked that it has a more 'SUV' look to it than the average minivan look (like a round bean).

In our new car we can watch a movie from our navigation system when the car is parked.  Pretty sweet.  Watching Happy Feet with the kiddos.  :)
The next day I took some pics of Landon and Elle becoming total zombies with the 11" DVD system in the car.  Thankfully they understand that we can only watch a movie when we are on a long car ride.

I'm not gonna lie, this car is pretty sweet and we love it even more every time we get in.  I am not afraid to say that I am a minivan Momma anymore!!

Atlanta Zoo

We had our first visit at the Atlanta Zoo over the Thanksgiving holiday and it was awesome!

Landon was super excited to be at the zoo.
It was a chilly day!
Excited to see the lions!
3 generations.
In the lion's den.
Look at that big boy...I just want to hug him.  He's sleeping just like Bohdi does!
Elle really enjoyed the zoo too!
Landon laughing at Daddy.
Time to see the gorillas.
Staying warm.
These guys were really fun to watch...plus it was in a heated viewing room.  :)
These leaves look like they belong from the movie Jurassic Park...what a classic!  haha
Elle with her Grandad and Great Grandad!
Alligators!
The Atlanta Zoo has panda bears!!!
Elle and Daddy having a special moment together looking at the giraffes.
We had a great day at the zoo!
